Imprinted is a deeply personal exploration of gendered language and its psychological weight. Words like ambiciozna (ambitious), uporna (persistent), and mlada (young) have often been used to dismiss my voice in professional settings. Over many days, I kneel on a carved wooden block, allowing these words to imprint onto my skin—mirroring the hidden but lasting impact of language. The fleeting marks, documented in photographs, reveal how seemingly neutral words can carry societal bias, shaping perception and self-worth. Imprinted transforms the intangible weight of language into a physical reality, encouraging reflection on its power to define and constrain.
